The Kroetch family has been in the milling and timber business since the 1700s. After migrating to the U.S. from Bavaria, "Kroetch Bros." mills moved west with the railroads, finally ending up in Harrison, Idaho at the turn of the century.
Eventually, the venture became known as Kroetch Land & Timber. The privately held, award-winning, family corporation now sustainably manages 22,000+ acres of timberland.

Shelterwood investing is inspired by the logging practice of shelterwood cutting. Instead of clear-cutting the whole forest, the woods are cut with long-term growth in mind, leaving the strongest trees to replenish and maintain the current forest structure.
